Custom Therapeutic Massage

Prenatal Massage

Swedish Massage
The Swedish, or Classic massage, is the most widely recognized system in the United States. Swedish massage is the basic and universal system taught in massage schools, and it relates and compliments to many modern therapeutic types and techniques. The system includes five types of strokes: effleurage (gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping or percussion), friction and vibration. These strokes can largely vary in the firmness, speed, and intensity, depending on goals set for the session.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is rather a collective term for an aggregate of techniques that address deeper layers of soft tissue. Those techniques are Trigger point therapy, Neuromuscular therapy, Myofascial release, etc. Deep tissue techniques are used for chronic aches and spasms, and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. Results are reduced muscle pain, increased mobility and accelerated recovery after injuries, to name a few. Deep tissue massage is usually administered on the local areas, and is often combined with other techniques, like Swedish massage or Sports massage. In Modern Massage Studio, we call these combinations a Custom massage.
Relaxation Massage
The name of the RELAXATION MASSAGE explains its purpose. Usually it is a full body massage, when therapist uses smooth, flowing strokes with up to a medium pressure, gentle rocking and sometimes heavier pressure. Relaxation massage eases muscle tension and promotes lymph and blood circulation, helping immune system. It promotes a stress relief, general relaxation and better sleep.
Thai Massage
“Thai massage or “Thai yoga massage” is a traditional healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. There is constant body contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked.” (Wikipedia) In traditional Thai massage, no oils or lotions are used. The client wears loose comfortable outfit and lays on the mat or a firm mattress on the floor. All types of massage, including Thai massage, can help people relax, temporary relieve muscle and join pain and boost a good well-being. At the same time, many massage practitioners claim effects of Thai massage go far beyond those demonstrated by a clinical study.
Reiki
“Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.”
